I went to my first ultrasound on Tuesday and was 8 weeks 1 day. Everything is going well so far. I got a prescription to some prenatal vitamins, because with my last pregnancy, I took over the counter and they made me very sick. These new ones seem to be a huge improvement.

I also got a prescription to some pills that get rid of the nausea. Funny thing is, it replaces my nausea with a headache and a stomach ache, so I don't know if they're really worth taking! I was told the stomach aches could be because my body isn't used to the pills, and it may take some time to get used to them, but the headache they give me is a killer! I think I'd rather be nauseated.

As for pregnancy while already having a little one, it's not actually all that hard. My son is currently 9 1/2 months old, and he's just amazing. Walking around everywhere, practically running! He's tall, too. 30.75 in tall! But he's fun. He keeps me moving which is good, as well as keeps my mind off of how terrible I'm feeling due to this pregnancy. I think second pregnancies are much easier than first. Even the time is flying by!

Now, I don't know how everyone feels about epidurals, but I'm very pro. With my first born, my contractions had hit their peak and they were excrutiating. I asked for an epidural, and I had to wait almost 3 hours to get it after the contractions had already hit their peak. It was terrible. Well, I recently found out that a lot of hospitals on bases don't offer epidurals! My husband is in the AF and we're moving to Japan in Feb, when the baby is due in July. I've been really worrying about whether or not I'll be able to get an epidural! The idea of having a baby without one just sounds terrible.

Well, luckily, I'm a member of a pregnancy website that has a lot of different groups you can become a member of. One of them is for military spouses, and on that group I was able to ask if anyone knew about epidurals at this particular base, and fortunately, they offer them there! Unfortunately, you share a recovery room for the next few days with another woman. And even worse than that, there is only one bathroom to every 2 rooms! So I'll have to share one bathroom with 4 other recovering women for 2-3 days.

Now, I don't know about any of you out there, but with my first born, it took me at least 30 minutes to use the bathroom, what with how having a baby affects your body. Taking a shower took me over an hour! I don't know how I'm going to handle 4 women in one bathroom. I'm the type of person where things like these really bother me. I'm nice, I'm a good sharer, but when it comes to just having had a baby? The last thing I want to deal with is other women recovering as well AND having to share a bathroom.

But I have a feeling it will all be ok. Just as long as the person I share a room with doesn't keep me up until crazy hours of the night by talking, being loud, watching TV, etc. But we'll see how it goes!

Week 5

How I'm feeling

Nauseus

Tired

Dizzy

Anxious

Just found out yesterday that I was pregnant. After having almost 2 weeks of sensing something different about my body, I took the test, and now here we are.

For the past 2 weeks, I've been aware that I was late. At first, I decided it must have something to do with my body changing since I had a baby. Before my baby, my body was completely regular, and since having him, it's a little changed. But something wasn't right. I was having no signs at all of a coming cycle. But I pushed it off to stress, seeing as how I had to make 150 candles as a party favor for my brother's wedding and things have been a little stressful with my marriage. Having an 8 month old baby doesn't make it any easier. He's a handful!

Well, my husband noticed that I haven't had a cycle yet, and to my surprise, told me he hoped that I was pregnant! So, thankfully, I have a supportive husband who loves me and our son and now our little one on the way.

We told our families yesterday. My mother has known that I've been worried about being pregnant for a few days now, so she wasn't too surprised when I told her, but she was very happy. My dad told me he was disappointed in some ways, but happier in so many more. He is just worried because my husband and I are supposed to PCS in a few months to the other side of the world. But he is happy for us.

As for my husband's family. His mother was happy. His father was ecstatic! This will be his 3rd grandchild and he can't wait to have more (which is good, because my sister-in-law is trying to conceive again!)

Overall, it went very well. I'm glad everyone supports us and loves us all. I don't know what I'd do without them!

Some Background Info

Hey there! I'm Megan, I'm 22, and I'm currently pregnant with my second baby.

I had my first child when I was 21 years old, pregnant when I was 20. He's currently 8 months old, and just the best baby. His name is Joseph Robert IV, and he was born 18 Feb. It was the best day of my life, but very difficult and hard. Yeah, you would say that's obvious considering I pushed a body out of my own, but that's only part of it.

I got married 16 July, after I found out I was pregnant. My husband, Joe, is in the Air Force. He was set to deploy to Afghanistan in September. He would not return until our very first baby was 6 weeks old.

It's very difficult having a baby by yourself, but I managed, and I wasn't totally alone. I had a fantastic support system behind me which consisted of my family as well as my husband's. And thankfully, he was able to be there with us thanks to a great little invention called the internet. We video chatted throughout my labor and delivery.

Anyway, after deciding on planning to have a second child when Joey (my son) was 1-2 years old, we found out just yesterday that I was pregnant again. Scary, I know. But the way my husband and mother put it, "Sure, this baby is early, but so was Joey. And look how much we love him and how well we take care of him!" So I'm trying to push all fears aside and be strictly thankful for what I have been blessed with. A wonderful, supporting husband, a great family, a beautiful little baby boy, and coming soon, another perfect addition to our growing family.
